IS CALEB KING THE NEXT HERSCHEL WALKER??

facebooktwitterreddit

This was the video of Caleb King  in 2007 and his High School highlights.  The enthusiasm, the excitement, and the hope for this young man’s talent actually caused the press to pose the question: “Is Caleb King the next Herschel Walker?”  Now three years later, unfortunately, we know that the answer is a resounding “NO!” Not only has his abilities on the field been a mixed bag, but based upon the poor life decisions made by this young man off the field, he has shown total disrespect for his team and the school that gave him a free educational ride.

Caleb will not be part of this Dawg team that has traveled to Memphis for a bowl game, in an attempt to come out of this year with at least a winning season (7-6), because once again he has failed to appear somewhere that he was supposed to be.  This time it was academically related (five missed appointments), and the last was a Court hearing.  Apparently, Mr. King is more interested in his own time clock than the one that the rest of team has to abide by on the playing field.  Coach Richt, in regard to Caleb’s absence from the Liberty Bowl, said, ” “We’ve played some games without him before, and we’ll do it again.” (source: www.ajc.com)

The bottom line difference between Herschel Walker and Caleb King?  There is not enough time or space on this blog or any other to even attempt to have that discussion.  Lets just go to the punch line!  The difference is ability and character, and not necessarily in that order.  Georgia could’nt have won the National Championship in 1980 without Herschel Walker.  Somehow, I think we can manage the Liberty Bowl in 2010 without Caleb King!
