Assuming that Isaiah Crowell truly has narrowed his choices of schools to that of Alabama and Georgia, as all the sports pondits have discussed for months, his mind has probably just been made up for him. Four star running back, Dee Hart, who originally committed to Michigan, has now withdrawn that committment in favor of the Tide. His good buddy, Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, the top rated safety in the nation, who also committed to Alabama, was the guiding force in Hart’s “change of heart.” This means that ‘Bama’s running back stable is about filled to the brim with the likes of Hart, Trent Richardson, and Eddie Lacy. With the choice of battling for playing time with these three versus being the go to running back, to start immediately for the Dawgs, this would be a no brainer for Mr. Crowell. Of course, Crowell could surprise everyone and pick another school entirely, and that perhaps might explain his wanting to wait until signing day to announce his committment, in order to crank up the ‘shock’ factor. But we as Dawgs can only hope this is not the case. With Caleb King and Washaun Ealey combined being big dissapointments to the University in their on and off the field accomplishments, this leaves us with only one small back with any game time playing experience. The bottom line is that we must have a solid good running back to have any chance of trying to swing this team’s fortunes around in 2011. WE NEED ISAIAH CROWELL!
I realize that I came down on this young man pretty hard in an earlier blog, regarding his on the field negative actions in his high school play off game. Admittedly, I got pretty revved up and perhaps went overboard on my comments regarding these actions, to the point that I suggested that he needed to go to Alabama. For this, an apology is in order to him and his family. However, the prime issue that was being dealt with in that article was not Mr. Crowell, it was the general issue of Mark Richt’s tendency to recruit trouble makers since he has been at Georgia, and the multitude of arrests we have had of his players since he has been there. That issue is what had me all fired up, and still has me fired up today.
Unfortunately, immediately prior to writing that blog I read an article about the unsportsmanlike penalties Isaiah had received as well as his other actions in that game, and I made him fair game for the content of the blog. Did I have any information of what happened leading up to these actions on his part, or read anything about his side of the story? No, I didn’t. So, truthfully that situation probably should have been totally left out of the blog.
SO, HERE IT COMES: ISAIAH CROWELL, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR BACKGROUND, OR WHETHER YOU ARE A NICE GUY OR A JERK! THE ONLY THING I DO KNOW IS THAT YOU ARE ONE HELL OF AN ATHLETE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA NEEDS YOU! I WILL MAKE YOU A DEAL, I WILL NOT WRITE ANY MORE IDIOTIC BLOGS COMING DOWN ON PEOPLE I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT (AT LEAST NOT INTENTIONALLY), IF YOU AGREE TO WEAR THE RED AND BLACK! DEAL?
