Defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan (6-foor-4, 250 pounds) of Asheville, N.C., passed over Georgia and Alabama to commit to Clemson this past weekend. Having previously committed to Florida, he backed out after the coaching staff change at “Slimey Lizard U.” (source: The State, South Carolina’s Home Page)
Tight end Jay Rome (6-6, 240) of Valdosta, Ga., the son of former Clemson player Stan Rome, having allegedly dropped his dad’s alma mater as a consideration, visited Alabama this weekend. According to his dad, “He is down to Georgia and Alabama,” (source: The State, South Carolina’s Home Page)
Rome and his buddy from Valdosta High School, Defensive back Malcolm Mitchell, are preparing to make their commitment announcements this Thursday at 7 PM. Mitchell, for whom the Dawgs are hot to trot, in addition to Rome, had this to say about his visit to Tuscaloosa: “I like Alabama because they compete for championships and I have a good bond with their coaches like Coach (Nick) Saban and (Jeremy) Pruitt.” “At Georgia, I like the coaches and players and Coach Richt and I are pretty close. I am just going to pray about it and talk it over with my family.” Both recruits claim that their decision to both announce at the same time has nothing to do with where each have decided to go. Yeh right, and elephants fly when no one is looking! (source: MRSEC.com)
A twitter comment from Jay Rome today (assuming what I read was actually Jay Rome’s twitter page) regarding the ‘Bama visit was “My mom an mrs saben have the same birthday could that b a sign?” OH BOY, HERE WE GO!
Regarding the Dawgs coaching staff wanting to “ put a fence around the state of Georgia,” yesterday I sent a twitter to Herschel Walker, David Pollack, and CMR at their Twitter pages, whereby I suggested they get together and do a commercial, running until signing day, which urges the Georgia recruits to ‘stay at home.’ Do you know I have not heard back from these guys yet? So CMR, if you lose out on some of these recruits, you will have no one to blame but yourself for not chatting me up and taking my advice. That’s my story, and I’m sticking with it.
