Georgia beats Ole Miss, 2-2

Georgia Bulldogs beat Ole Miss Rebels 27-13. Well Aaron Murray of Georgia silenced his critics today including me. Aaron Murray had a fantastic day, he was 17-26, 268 yards and had 3 touchdowns. One was his own 1 yard run in the endzone. He did throw one interception but other than that, he was brilliant. In fact Aaron Murray rushed for 17 yards. Isaiah Crowell had a big game also. Isaiah Crowell rushed for 147 yards in 30 carries. He had some big runs during the first half of the game.

Georgia defense played pretty well, they did get Zack Stoudt to throw an interception and Georgia blitz pretty often. Ole Miss play a two quarterback rotation, but it didn’t work out to well for them. Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Randall Mackey played pretty good but he also had trouble with the Georgia defensive line.

Georgia scored twice in the 1st quarter. Blair Walsh who didn’t exactly have a good game, kicked the first field goal. Georgia took an early 3-0 lead. After Ole Miss couldn’t do anything, the Bulldogs came back marching down the field. Aaron Murray put Georgia up 10-0 on a 1 yard touchdown run.

In the 2nd quarter, Georgia increased their lead to 17-0 on an Orson Charles 2 yard touchdown pass. Ole Miss came back fired up, the Rebels use Randall Mackey to relieve Zack Stoudt who couldn’t get the ball down field. Randall Mackey threw a 38 yard touchdown pass to Donte Moncrief. Georgia leads it 17-7. Ole Miss then did an onside kick and recovered. Randall Mackey threw an interception after three plays. Late in the 2nd quarter, Georgia came back firing down the field. Aaron Murray found Aron White for a 35 yard touchdown pass to make it 24-7 Georgia. After Georgia got the ball and couldn’t move, Drew Butler kicked a monster punt, but Ole Miss Jeff Scott caught the ball, then handed off to Nick Brassell who ran for a 81 yard touchdown run. That would be all the scoring for Ole Miss. They got within 11 points but could not do anything offensively. Georgia took the lead 24-13 at halftime. The reason Ole Miss didn’t get the 14th point, the long snapper botched the snap and the holder could not handle the ball. Georgia sacked the holder.

In the 3rd quarter, neither teams could score any points. Blair Walsh of Georgia missed 3 field goals in the second half. In the 4th quarter, Georgia finally got a field goal from Blair Walsh. It was a 43 yard field goal to make it 27-13.

Georgia wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell had a good game, had 3 receptions for 93 yards. The Bulldogs had 475 total yards and Ole Miss had 183 total yards. Georgia beat Ole Miss for the 8th straight time since 1997. Georgia will face Mississippi State in Athens next week.
