Isaiah Crowell/Herschel Walker

Isaiah Crowell is the 2nd best freshman running back in the country. Isaiah Crowell is averaging 102.8 yards rushing per game. He is second to Anthon Samuel of Bowling Green. Anthon Samuel has 107 yards up to this week. Isaiah Crowell has been explosive on his running game. Herschel Walker was also dominating during the first few weeks during the 1980 season. Herschel Walker had 5 touchdowns through four games, Isaiah Crowell right now has 3 touchdowns.

Seems like Isaiah Crowell is going to pass Herschel Walker in the near future. Only difference that I see in Herschel Walker is that he can go out and pound down the linebackers. I mean the way he ran, he just ran through the big men. Isaiah Crowell is a little smaller so he doesn’t have the same body mass as Herschel did. Herschel Walker won the Heisman Trophy during his junior season in 1982, Isaiah Crowell could do the same if he can build up his speed.

Herschel Walker finished the 1980 season with 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns that does not include the Sugar Bowl. Herschel Walker played with a good offensive line and they made key blocks to get him his touchdowns and yardages. Right now Georgia doesn’t have that kind of line. There are some injuries and some of the linemen are 1st year players. Its going to take some time before they hit their stride. Isaiah Crowell will probably hit 1,000 yards this season if he doesn’t get injured or doesn’t get enough carries. I know Mark Richt will use him as much as he can to help the Bulldogs win.

The other difference between Herschel Walker and Isaiah Crowell is that Herschel Walker played on an undefeated team, through four games Georgia was 4-0. 2011 team is 2-2, and Georgia haven’t really exploded against any of FBS. If Isaiah Crowell keeps working on his speed he will be one of the best running backs that Georgia has ever had. One of Isaiah Crowell’s best talent is his quickness. Once Isaiah Crowell gets the ball he can flat out and run.
