BIG GAME: Alabama vs LSU

Football fans in the south are talking about the big game that is going to take place this Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. Alabama and LSU, both teams are in the SEC and both in the same division. Alabama last won the championship in the 2009 season while LSU last won it back in 2007 season. In 2009 Mark Ingram of Alabama won the Heisman Trophy. It was the first time a player that played for Alabama to win the Heisman award. LSU and Alabama are ranked 1 and 2.
This game will determine who will have the inside track of the BCS National Championship game. Both teams have the same record, 8-0, 5-0 in conference play. Last season in Baton Rouge LSU beat Alabma 24-21. LSU scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter after being down 21-10. Alabama has to keep Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee out of the endzone. LSU will try to keep Trent Richardson from getting to the endzone.
The question is who is going to have more swagger in the opener? Many people will say Alabama, why, because they are playing at home in a packed house. LSU have played pretty well on the road over the years. Les Miles of LSU knows the drill; Nick Saban who used to coach LSU will have his team on its heel. This game was picked to be the game to watch at the beginning of the season. Many college football experts thought back in August that the Alabama-LSU game will have some kind of ramifications for the BCS National Championship. They were right, that’s why this game is nationally televised.
Last time LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa was in 2007, LSU beat Alabama 41-34. Let’s look at the the two quarterbacks that are going to play on Saturday night. LSU’s quarterback Jarrett Lee has thrown for 1250 yards with 13 touchdowns and 1 interception. He has a 63.2 passing percentage rate. Jarrett Lee is not very mobile. He relies on his arm strength and his receivers to go down field. Alabama’s quarterback AJ McCarron has thrown for 1664 yards with 10 touchdowns and has 3 interceptions. AJ McCarron has a 67.0 passing percentage rate. He throws a little better than Jarrett Lee but he has thrown 3 interceptions. Now the question is, which quarterback will have a field day? By Saturday night we will find out which team is worth being number 1.
