Georgia overpowered Appalachian State 81-37 Thursday in Athens to take a 10-2 record into the holiday weekend.
It was the sixth win in the last seven games for the No. 13 Lady Dogs. All of the wins have been by double digits. The victory also ended the Mountaineers’ eight game winning streak.
UGA dominated the boards early and often Thursday. The Lady Dogs had early 11-3 rebounding advantage, including six off the offensive glass against a zone defense, in the first 6:30 of the game en route to a 12-4 lead. Appalachian State struggled against the UGA defense all night. The Mountaineers didn’t get their first field goal until the 14-minute mark.
UGA led 32-10 at the half and its advantage didn’t drop below 18 in the second half.
The Lady Dogs are off until Wednesday when they host Furman at 7 p.m.
