What the recruiting gods give, they also take away.
On the same day that Georgia got junior college offensive lineman Mark Beard to sign on the line, the Bulldogs lost their commitment from prep linebacker Kent Turene.
According to Michael Carvell’s blog on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website, Turene, cited as a 3-star recruit at Atlanta Sports Academy in Dawsonville, Ga., by Scout.com, didn’t meet academic requirements and will head instead to Marshall.
Carvell reported that Turene told UGASports.com’s Anthony Dasher that there were issues with night classes he took that didn’t get the NCAA stamp of approval.
Turene is the second Scout 3-star defensive recruit UGA has lost from the 2012 commitment list. Carvell’s blog said that end Jalen Fields of Georgia Military junior college will no longer be heading to Athens due to transfer requirement issues.
How much does the loss of Turene affect the Bulldogs? Let us know what you think in the comments.
