The No. 17 Lady Dogs (10-2) wrap up their non-conference slate with a game against Furman at 7 pm EST tonight, the second of a three-game homestand. Will the visitors prepare the Lady Dogs for the SEC slate, which starts Jan. 1 against Arkansas? Let’s find out.

FURMAN
Record: 8-3

Coming In: Has won three in a row with its 62-54 win over Marshall Dec. 22 at home.

Mascot: The Paladin. We covered this last week for the men, but can a woman be a paladin, which has one definition as a knight? Oh yeah – and good quite good ones at that. According to the article, you’ve got examples such as Joan of Arc and a group of women who fought off a Moor invasion of Catalonia in 1149.

Well, This Is Interesting: This will be Georgia’s fourth game this season against a Southern Conference team.

But Here’s The Thing: That’s actually bad news for Furman. Georgia has won those three games by an average of 29.3 points, including last Thursday’s 81-37 win over Appalachian State at home.

Watch This Player: Make that players. According to FurmanPaladins.com, two Paladins average double figures in points – Reagan Thompson (11.9) and Kaitlin Murphy (11.0) – but Furman has had five different players lead the team in scoring in a game this season. Defensively, Furman is rather tough to make 3-pointers against.
