Kyle Carter didn’t really need to add anything to his resume. But he did anyway.
The Columbus (Ga.) High School baseball star and University of Georgia signee claimed the Power Showcase home run derby Wednesday in Phoenix.
Carter hit seven homers in the final round to beat four other all-star baseball players from across the country. He also started at left field in the All-American Game that evening.
So here’s a sampling what Carter has earned in the last several years: Won the 2006 Little League World Series title, led Columbus to GHSA AAA state titles in 2010 and 2011, named AAA Player of the Year and MVP of the 17U Perfect Game World Wood Bat Association Championship, set a school record with 22 homers last season and played his way into a top-20 ranking among high school prospects by MLBDraftGuide.com. Oh, and he had a team-best 2.33 earned run average last season as well. And now, a home run derby crown at an all-star showcase.
Any chance he can get on the field for the Dawgs this coming season?
