Fifth-ranked Georgia conducted a two-hour morning workout Sunday in cool, calm conditions with the temperature and humidity hovering in the mid-70s.

Following the Sunday session, Georgia’s assistant coaches met with the media.

“The returning guys have done a good job teaching the new guys over the summer and so far in camp of preparing mentally and physically to be ready from day one,” said associate head coach/defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. “We’re only in day four of camp, and we’re heading in the right direction. There’s a lot of new faces and the first third of camp we have to evaluate the talent we have and see who can help us get back to Atlanta. Then, we have to develop those guys and get them in their roles and work on what they will see during the season from the teams we’re playing. We aim to get better each day.”

Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said his early impressions of camp are that the guys are working hard to master their craft; they are paying attention to detail and their assignments.

“We’re working on mental toughness especially when you’re tired, that’s what camp is for, to see the guys who can maintain their focus.”

Bobo was asked about a couple of receivers who are coming off knee injuries in junior split end Michael Bennett and freshman flanker Tramel Terry.

“Michael is doing well, running with the first team or co-first team and has no limitations,” said Bobo. “Tramel has been limited some, but both have made some good catches so far and working their way back in to it.”

Bennett appeared in five games last year including three starts before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that ended his season in October. Terry was a standout wide receiver, running back and kick returner at Goose Creek High School in Goose Creek South Carolina who went down with an injury during the Shrine Bowl All-Star game in Spartanburg last December.

Georgia will go in full pads for the first time this preseason camp on Monday.
