Georgia freshman receiver Reggie Davis has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman Player of the Week following the Bulldogs’ 45-21 win over North Texas, according to a league announcement on Monday.
This marks the third SEC honor in as many game weeks for the Bulldogs. Senior quarterback Aaron Murray was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after the win over #6 South Carolina while sophomore tailback Todd Gurley garnered the award following the matchup with #8 Clemson.
Davis, a native of Tallahassee, Florida, snagged a pair of catches for 134 yards, including a record-breaking 98-yard touchdown, in the victory over the Mean Green. These marked the first receptions of Davis’ career. The 98-yard scoring strike from Aaron Murray is the longest offensive scoring play in Bulldog history and is tied for the third-longest receiving touchdown in SEC history. Davis’ catch is also the longest receiving touchdown in the FBS this year.
Davis was also named the Athlon Sports SEC Freshman of the Week.
