Running back Todd Gurley and linebacker Ramik Wilson have both been named to the Walter Camp Award watch list, after both having represented UGA at the SEC Media Days on Thursday.
The Walter Camp Trophy is awarded to the outstanding player of the year who has exemplified the qualities of self-discipline, unselfish team play, desire to excel, mature judgement and respect for leadership.
Mature judgement? Last year’s winner was Florida State’s Jameis Winston. Oh well, I digress.
Winston is also on this year’s list of 50 players who are being watched by the Walter Camp Foundation, although being on the watch list is not a prerequisite for winning the award.
There are 33 offensive players (16 quarterbacks, 8 receivers, 7 running backs, and 2 offensive linemen) on the list, and 17 defensive players(7 defensive backs, 5 defensive lineman, and 5 linebackers).
Alabama has the most players on this year’s watch list, with three – DB Landon Collins, WR Amari Cooper and RB T.J. Yeldon.
In total, Ramik Wilson is now on five different watch lists, while Todd Gurley has been named to three.
