FB/RB/TE/ST Quayvon Hicks
Hicks is one of the more versatile players in Mike Bobo’s offense. He can be a traditional blocking fullback, he can take the ball on a handoff and gain positive yards, and he’s excellent at catching passes coming out of the backfield as well as coming off the line of scrimmage. When Georgia’s running back depth was tested by all the injuries in 2013, Hicks stepped up and helped to carry the load.
Hicks appeared in 13 games last season, rushing for 72 yards on 10 attempts, and pulling down five catches for 67 yards. He’s certain to be used more as a fullback this season with a healthy Gurley and Marshall, but watch for Bobo to throw him a bone and use him as a crushing runner in short yardage and goal line situations.
He’s also being cross-trained as a tight end, giving him even more value as a pass protector and safety valve receiver. Top that off with his experience on special teams, and Quayvon Hicks will be a key member of the 2014 Georgia roster.
