Concert at the 40 Watt Club

An Athens legend, this one needs to be experienced if possible. It doesn’t matter what band is playing, you should just go to experience a concert at the world famous 40 Watt.

The birthplace of R.E.M., Drivin n Cryin, and the Indigo Girls is a piece of Athens and pop music history. If you’re lucky, a concert will be on tap for Friday night, but be sure to get there early and get a seat.

Recently the 40 Watt has seen acts such as of Montreal, Drive-By Truckers, and The Whigs make their home at the club, and give ear-popping performances. You haven’t really experienced the famous Athens music scene unless you’ve had your dose of 40 Watt.

The 40 Watt Club is currently owned and operated by Barrie Buck, the former wife of R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck.
