No. 2 – South Carolina Gamecocks

Probable Big Horses: Mike Davis, Brandon Wilds, Shon Carson

The Gamecocks are one of two teams in this division with legitimate Heisman candidates at running back. Mike Davis, when healthy, is one of the best backs in the nation, and he’ll be the focal point for Spurrier this season with exit of quarterback Connor Shaw.

Wilds may possibly be almost as good as Davis, but his history of injuries hasn’t given him the opportunity to show it. They could be a very dynamic tandem if both of them remain healthy this year.

Shon Carson has had moments, and definitely has speed to burn when in the open field. An offensive scheme that goes back to a more run-heavy playbook may benefit Carson with more touches. Incoming freshman David Williams may be a big surprise for the Gamecocks as well.
