September 20, 1986: Clemson Kicks, Part 1
Clemson gave Georgia kicking fits two years in a row as payback, starting in 1986. In another close game in Athens, unranked Clemson beat No. 14 Georgia, 31-28. Like the 1984 matchup, the winning team’s kicker missed a field goal, and David Treadwell was able to redeem himself. Both UGA and Clemson went into their bowl games ranked at the end of the year.
