Before the 3:30 kickoff on Saturday, the pregame crew at CBS Sports is going to offer their analysis of the game and make their predictions….

But not before we make ours.

Here’s how we see things shaping up for three key Dawgs in the big SEC opener tomorrow.

    RB Todd Gurley:

We’ll take Todd Gurley first because that’s how the Gamecocks are going to play it. Since South Carolina defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward will undoubtedly make it his task to stop Gurley, we’ll give him credit enough for slowing the G-train down.

Gurley won’t put up the near 300 all-purpose yards that he did against Clemson, but he’ll still get his 100 yards rushing on the ground and catch a couple of key passes out of the backfield.

Prediction: 110 yards rushing, 60 yards receiving, 10 return yards (Spurrier has all but vowed not to kick it to Gurley), one rushing touchdown

    QB Hutson Mason:

Some think that South Carolina is going to dare Georgia QB Hutson Mason to throw the ball against them.

Umm..did you see this Gamecocks secondary in the first two games? Yeah…dare accepted.

This will be Mason’s coming out party. He’s going to find Chris Conley often, and for some big chunks of yardage. Listen for Quayvon Hicks to have his number called more than a few times this week too. Mike Bobo has been waiting for the opportunity to show off the skills that Hicks has learned this offseason, and this will be the game to do it.

Prediction: 35+ pass attempts, 375 yards, two passing touchdowns.

    WR Chris Conley:

No Malcolm Mitchell, no Justin Scott-Wesley, no Jonathon Rumph? No problem.

Yes, Georgia comes into the game a little shorthanded at wide receiver, but Chris Conley has stepped up before in this situation and he’ll do it again against the Gamecocks.

Bobo has several formations where he’ll line up Conley in the slot or even outside as a flanker. Conley is perfect target in the screen game, with good speed, big hands, and the ability to run over smaller defensive backs. He’s also got great skills running routes down the sideline.

It’s going to be a long, hot afternoon for the South Carolina defensive backs.

Prediction: 10 catches, 120 yards, one receiving touchdown.

    The Score:

Georgia’s defense against Clemson was no fluke, and the offense is going to start picking on the Gamecocks early on in this game. Mason throws for two touchdowns, Gurley scores one, and either Chubb or Marshall will at a fourth touchdown. Add at least two Marshall Morgan field goals.
