The Bulldog Nation should panic because…

Quarterback Hutson Mason has looked absolutely…average…in his first two games.

Nobody expected him to be Aaron Murray stepping on the field (Ok, maybe we did), but he’s been far from the gunslinger that he was described and touted to be by coaches.

Georgia is going to focus on the run, that much is obvious. And with backs like Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, why not? But if the Georgia secondary is going to give up big chunks of yards and quick strike scores, then the Bulldogs have to be able to match that before they get too far behind and the clock starts to become their enemy.

Mason has made some nice throws, and has been mostly accurate. But he’s still putting way too much touch and finesse on passes when a little mustard is needed at times, and he’s still throwing behind receivers on timing routes, leaving the receiver not only open to injury, but the ball open to being intercepted.

We need Huston Mason to be just a little more Aaron Murray. Just a little.
