Point Guard

At point guard junior Charles Mann will start. He is the perfect basketball quarterback for Mark Fox’s offense – he’s big, tough and lives to challenge at the rim.

Mann claimed second team All-SEC honors after last season. He is 6’5”, 215 pounds, strong and attacks the basket from the center of the court. The flaw in his game is dishing to the open man – imagine a Tim Tebow who’s learning how to pass. Mann shot 70 percent on 277 free throws (second highest season total ever for a Bulldog.) Mann scored 14 points and played 30 minutes a game, making 40 percent of his shots and 30 percent of his three-point tries. On defense, Mann bullies at the point like a linebacker blitzing through a scat back.

This Bulldog basketball team belongs to Mann – where he goes, the Dawgs go. Mann has been a point guard in training for the last two years. If he can reduce turn overs, make timely passes off his drives, and  improve his shooting, the Bulldogs could play for a Sweet Sixteen spot.
