No. 5 – Notre Dame Fighting Irish

This is a series that is already underway with the teams agreeing to a home-and-home series in 2017 and 2019. But it should go further.

The one and only time these two storied programs have met was in the 1981 Sugar Bowl, with the Georgia victory giving Herschel Walker and the Bulldogs a national championship.

This one seems like such a natural rivalry, its hard to explain why it hasn’t happened sooner.

Eventually Notre Dame is more than likely going to join the ACC in football (they’ve already done it in basketball), and when that happens it will become even more fun to see these two lock horns. Bonus for the Bulldogs if they get to travel to Ireland to face the Irish in the Emerald Isle Classic.

Hopefully those in charge will see that the two schedule games aren’t enough and will add this one as a more regular meeting.
