So you stick your hand on a white hot stove, and expect to come away with your skin intact?

Per a story from Atlanta’s Fox-5, Allen has been holding up in his suburban Atlanta home and has refused to speak to reporters or to make any comment regarding the controversy swirling around the star Georgia running back.

“He said he spoke to his attorney. And the attorney told him as soon as the University of Georgia and the NCAA finishes their investigation, then he’ll be more than glad to make a comment, ” Dallas, GA detective Bill Gorman told FOX reporter Randy Travis.

It’s doubtful that anyone will have much in the way of sympathy for Allen, who obviously may be regretting his decision to go public with his story. As news trucks and reporters gather around his home, he’s called the police to try and find some relief, but has had little success.

Allen’s propensity for exaggerating or bending the facts seems to once again be rearing its ugly head, as per detective Gorman, Allen has claimed that his social security number has been compromised, and that he’s received threats of bank accounts being frozen and similar problems, but has filed no formal complaint of identity theft.

The reaction of fans and the attention of the media may not exactly be fair — since what Gurley is accused of doing is against the rules and warrants investigation — but it certainly shouldn’t have come as a surprise to Allen.

If it did shock him, he’s floating down a river of denial into a sea of antipathy.
