2002’s 51-7 Shellacking

Ah, the first time Tech came back to Athens after beating us there in 2000.

The 2002 season was a magical year for the Georgia Bulldogs. We won the SEC for the first time in forever and went on to win the Sugar Bowl. However, the Georgia Tech game was just a walk in the park with Georgia posting it’s most lopsided victory in series history.

The Bulldogs piled up 552 yards of total offense on the hapless Yellow Jackets, and running back Musa Smith pounded the Jackets all day long. Tech had no answer for anything Georgia wanted to do offensively, and were held to just 71 yards rushing in the entire game.

It was a pure beatdown in every sense of the word, exactly as it should be.
