No. 4: Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are a team in desperate need of a running game. The aging Steven Jackson has not been the replacement for Michael Turner that most had hoped, and the reset of the Atlanta backfield is decent and serviceable, but not featured back material.

If I didn’t think the entire Falcons coaching staff would be gone next season, I wouldn’t even put this team on the list. Dirk Koetter’s offense is Kryptonite to running backs who need to get a lot of touches, and Gurley would be a wasted asset on the team.

But since Mike Smith‘s days with the 5-7 Falcons are obviously numbered, having a home run hitter like Gurley joining the team would be a great way to start the tenure of a new staff. It worked for Mike Smith and Michael Turner.

Unless Atlanta can go on a run of beating Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Carolina and New Orleans, they’re probably destined for a early to mid-round pick in the first round. Prime spot for picking up Gurley.
