No. 3: Detroit Lions

Detroit would be an excellent match for someone like Gurley. The Lions have their passing game down pat, but running the ball has been an issue ever since Matthew Stafford came to the team.

Reggie Bush can’t stay healthy, and he’s aging. He’s not going be the guy to handle the load for the Lions. Joique Bell is a good back, but nowhere hear the caliber of Gurley, so the two would make a great tandem.

Obviously Stafford and Gurley didn’t have the chance to play together at Georgia, but you have to think the chemistry would be fluid, being as Stafford had a very similar back — Knowshon Moreno — to hand the ball to during his time with the Bulldogs.

The Lions are potentially a playoff team that will have a very late pick in the first round, but that’s not to say that they couldn’t trade up, or that Gurley wouldn’t still be available for them. With a ferocious defense, and a record-setting passing attack, Gurley could be the missing piece that pushes the Lions to the next level.
