Report: Georgia Bulldogs to Face Louisville (and Grantham) in Belk Bowl

If you’ve been waiting on the Georgia Bulldogs bowl information, we may have the answer.

The Bowl bids are starting to pour in and according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the Georgia Bulldogs will be taking the short trip up to Charlotte, N.C. to face the Louisville Cardinals in the Belk Bowl.

Keep in mind that this is an unconfirmed report, but McMurphy says that sources have informed him that Georgia (9-3) will be facing Louisville (9-3), as well as old “friend” now nemesis, Todd Grantham and his Cardinals defense.

The was speculation that Georgia might land another Outback or Citrus bowl bid to face the Big Ten once again, but the Citrus Bowl has opted for SEC runner-up Missouri, and rumors are that Auburn will get an invite to the Outback Bowl.

The Belk Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 30th at 6:30 pm at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

This will set up not only a great storyline for an ACC-SEC matchup, but also for Georgia to match wits with the guy who used to *ahem* coordinate the defense for the Bulldogs in Grantham.

Another angle…how many Bulldog fans are also Atlanta Falcons fans, and would love to see the Dawgs annihilate a Bobby Petrino coached team? Thinking just a few there perhaps.

Louisville finished the regular season ranked 20th in scoring defense, and 3rd nationally against the run, while 31st against the pass. Georgia wants to run, Louisville specializes in stopping that attack. Hutson Mason, warm up your arm.

Strength against strength, and multi-faceted revenge are going to make for a great build-up if this report is true. As confirmation rolls in, we will update.
