No. 5 – Byron Cowart, Defensive End

Bryon Cowart, the 5-star defensive end out of Seffner, Fl. (Armwood H.S.), is probably the closest thing to Jadeveon Clowney we’ll see in a long time.

Coming in at 6’4 and 240 pounds, Cowart has length, and speed. He’s already looking like an FBS player with some excellent footwork. 247 Sports has him rated as the No. 2 player in the state of Florida, the No. 1 strong-side defensive end in the nation, and the No. 3 overall player in the nation.

His commitment is still open, but only a few teams are seriously in the running to get him.

Likelihood of Commitment to Georgia – As huge as it would be for Georgia to get Cowart, don’t hold your breath. Right now he’s got his choices narrowed to three schools — Florida, Florida State and Auburn — and the Gators are looking strong right now. With the coaching change at Florida, it would switch things up, but Georgia is still far down on his list. A National Signing Day surprise is the only thing the Dawgs can hope for.
