Sam Madden, offensive tackle – Barnegat N.J.

Georgia is losing their longtime center, David Andrews this season, while the rest of the offensive line remains mostly intact.  But depth at offensive line is a key in the SEC, and some of the Bulldogs’ reserves have exhausted their eligibility.

Madden was a late commit to Georgia, not announcing his verbal commitment until Jan. 25, and so with all the flurry of preparing for the big day, he was a welcome addition but somewhat overlooked by many.

If you stood next to Madden, I guarantee you wouldn’t overlook him. At 6’7, 335 pounds, Madden is a gigantic presence on the line, and knows how to use leverage to maximize every bit of that girth. He’s never had to do a lot in pure pass-blocking schemes, but when the Bulldogs are looking to insert a big package to clear the way for Nick Chubb, you can bet that Madden will be out there somewhere.

Madden probably won’t get a starting job, but he’ll make the roster and become invaluable in goal line and short yardage situations. Get used to hearing his name called right before “….block that sprung Chubb”.
