Chuks Amaechi, inside linebacker – Yuma, Az.

Not a lot of people paid attention to JUCO transfer Chuks Amaechi because…well, he’s a JUCO transfer, and he opted for early enrollment.

Make no mistake, this guy can play. And with the loss of Amarlo Herrera and Ramik Wilson next year, inside linebacker was a position of importance to Jeremy Pruitt. When you get a guy who’s been playing at the JUCO level, you get some experience and seasoning that you don’t necessarily have with a pure freshman.

Pruitt knows how to spot talent at linebacker, and he’s the one who scouted out Amaechi from Arizona Western Junior College, and saw something he likes.

Being an early enrollee gives Amaechi another advantage, as he’ll be participating in spring practices and will have a leg up on the playbooks and schemes. If what Pruitt saw in him comes to fruition, then Chuks could very well earn himself a starting spot in what has been the best group of linebackers in the nation for several seasons.
