Mock-up concept Georgia football helmet is bold, but is it good?

The Georgia football helmet has a cool new concept design, along with many other teams.

Alternate uniforms, 3rd jerseys and special edition garb have become all the rage in every sport, even in the traditionalist realm of college football. Recently, Deeyung Entertainment, who recently designed concept helmets for all 32 NFL teams, has now taken a stab at college football helmets.

Check out the mock concept designs for the college teams here, but in the meantime, you can take a look at Georgia’s right here.

What’s to like? Well it’s very bold and bright, as are most of the designs done by Deeyung. There’s definitely a modern spirit to it, with a very creative use of the newest Georgia mascot logo.

But I’m a traditionalist when it comes to college football, and in particular for our Dawgs. I didn’t like the Nike Combat unis that the Bulldogs wore in their embarrassing loss to Boise State in 2011, and I’m not much for the newer logos that are used.

We aren’t Oregon. We don’t have Nike in our backyard as a benefactor. Give me the Power-G and the silver britches any day of the week. Hell, I’d even love to see the old tear-away jerseys make a comeback (never happening, I know).

There’s a lot to be said for keeping it simple, and while helmet designs like these might be eye-popping at first, they aren’t who we are, and I’m happy for that little tidbit of fact.

Lucky for us, it’s only a concept design.

What are your thoughts?
