Todd Gurley is New Face Of St. Louis Rams, Tre Mason and Zac Stacy Not Happy

Former UGA running back Todd Gurley was selected by St. Louis in the 2015 NFL Draft and Rams running backs Tre Mason and Zac Stacy have let their thoughts on the matter be known on social media.

The Georgia Bulldogs have had an illustrious history of top notch running backs leave Athens and head for the NFL. Herschel Walker, Rodney Hampton, Garrison Hearst, Terrell Davis, Thomas Brown, Knowshon Moreno, are just a few of the backs that have been drafted and took their talents to the gridiron in professional football.

One can now add another UGA alumni to the list as former UGA running back Todd Gurley was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams on Thursday evening.

It is no surprise that TG3 went within the first ten picks of the 2015 NFL Draft as he sported some 3,285 yards while averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground. Gurley also scored 36 touchdowns in his time with the Dawgs while only fumbling the ball 3 times in the process.

Those types of numbers would cause any NFL general manager to be giddy over such a runner and it is no doubt that he would have been drafted even higher given that he had not been pitted with some off the field issues and a torn ACL this past season.

While the fans in St. Louis may be excited about the fact that there is a new guy in town and that “he has legs and knows how to use them”, it would seem that the Rams current running backs seemed somewhat in disbelief with the selection of Todd Gurley.

Both Tre Mason and Zac Stacy took to Twitter with posts exhibiting disbelief and displeasure with the fact that a new running back will be soon be running amock over NFL defenders in St. Louis. It would seem both Mason and Stacy were aren’t giving Gurley the warmest of welcomes.

Tre Mason posted his feelings on Twitter with only a couple of words and a hashtag but it was more than enough for the message to be conveyed on how he felt of the decision for the Rams to draft Gurley.

Likewise, Rams running back Zac Stacy also posted only one word via Twitter which simply stated: “Yikes” at 9:15 p.m. However, upon attempting to retrieve his one word status on how he felt about Gurley being picked by St. Louis, onlookers will be unable to access the tweet as it has since been deleted.

While the twittersphere may not hold this tweet any longer, one can still see that it did indeed occur as one user on social media posted it with a message about how he was not happy with Stacy for posting the status and then deleting it.

Stacy must have really taken offense to the Rams drafting Gurley. While his tweet that exhibited his frustration may have vanished shortly after being posted, his dismay over the move did not.  This can be seen in that CBS has reported that he plans to request that the team release or trade him following the draft decision. Consequently, the Rams have stated that they are open to moving him.

The Rams made the choice to go with Todd Gurley and in doing so gained a superstar back with a bright future ahead of himself. Gurley has recovered well from his injury and is expected to be in full force in the near future. St. Louis’ decision to select him with the 10th overall pick will likely be well received by many of the Rams faithful. With that being said, only time will tell in regards to how well he will be received and treated by the others in the backfield already in St. Louis.
