Why he’s a bust – Discipline Issues/Dismissed

Part of what ended up being a terribly unstable group of recruits in 2013, Matthews had all the makings of a top safety and could have become a Georgia legend, but like so many others that year his lack of self-control was his undoing.

He was part of a group of players arrested for double-dipping stipend checks, and then was eventually dismissed by Richt for undisclosed reasons. The former 5-star standout out of Newnan, Ga. is now at Auburn, following the footsteps of a number of former prized recruits who didn’t have the mental makeup to play by the rules.
