6: Tony Gilbert and Johnathan Sullivan

In 2002, Tony Gilbert and Johnathan Sullivan gave Mark Richt’s defense the one-two lineman linebacker punch every championship team needs. And indeed, they were SEC Champions. Gilbert served as captain for the 2002 team and his name is found throughout the Georgia record book. While Sullivan is not mentioned as prominently, he proved himself with a four-year NFL career.

We list the names in tandem. Gilbert and Sullivan made opposing offenses look like Three Little Maids from School and allowed Dawg defensive backs to play like the Pirates of Penzance, bringing Sanford Stadium to its feet with shouts of encore at the sound of “tackle by Gilbert and Sullivan.”

Enjoy.
