Athlete Mecole Hardman Jr.

It would appear that UGA emphatically wants to sign Mecole Hardman Jr. this year and for good reason. The Elbert County High School (Elberton, Georgia) prospect is a 4-Star and the 4th overall athlete and the 8th overall prospect in the state of Georgia for the 2016 Class per 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. While Georgia holds the lead in terms of his recruitment for the moment, it would seem rival Tennessee has been trying to win him over as well. He recently told Jeff Sentell of the AJC.com that he wants to see if Jacob Eason “can overthrow me”.

Well, there is probably some questioning on that because this guy is fast. Hardman further informed Sentell that he has been hand-timed as low as 4.29 seconds in the 40-yard dash and clocked at 4.37 seconds by laser at that distance. Elaborating on the issue further Coleman stated that “I don’t think he can overthrow me. I don’t know what he will have to do to overthrow me because I can go get it now. I’d have to see that. I’ve never played with a quarterback that can really overthrow me.” Maybe Coleman and onlookers alike will get their wish during the coverage of The Opening. And while it is fine for them to be opponents during the event, Dawg fans hope that the two end up on the same squad together in Athens on down the line.
