Georgia Football: Floyd and Leonard Score Double Play With Spots on Nagurski Watch List

Georgia football lands two on the 2015 Bronko Nagurski watch list.

After scoring a spot on the Bednarik watch list, Georgia senior Jordan Jenkins and junior Leonard Floyd picked up spots on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The Nagurski Trophy is also awarded to the national defensive player of the year.

The 6-3, 253 pound Jenkins is the Bulldogs’ top returning tackler. From his outside linebacker position, the native of Hamilton, Ga., made 70 stops in 2014. He had 9.5 tackles for loss and five sacks plus a team-high 24 quarterback pressures. Jenkins both forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles in 2014.

Floyd, a 6-4, 231 pound Eastman, Ga native, led the Dawgs with six sacks last year. He was fifth on the team with 55 tackles from primarily the outside linebacker spot. Floyd had 8.5 tackles for loss, 17 pressures and three forced fumbles in his second season with the Bulldogs.

Former Bulldog and longtime NFL standout Champ Bailey won the 1998 Nagurski Trophy.

The favorite to claim the award is linebacker Scooby Wright III or Arizona. Wright won the Nagurski Award last year. He hd163 tackles, 29 for loss as the 2014 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
