Georgia football head coach Mark Richt, once known for his coiffed hair, is currently sporting a shorter look, and I, for one, am not for it.

I’m secure enough in my manhood to admit when another man is good looking.
And ever since Mark Richt was first hired to be the University of Georgia’s 25th head football coach, he has ranked amongst college football’s handsomest coaches.
So, when I turned on the TV to watch UGA’s turn at the SEC Media Days, I was taken aback to see the leader of the DawgNation looking almost like a cue ball. I just couldn’t believe that the man who has been caught on camera fixing his hair during games had less hair on his head than some women have above their lips.
Coach Richt has said regarding his hair that it’s a “summer cut that got a little out of hand”. Well, Coach, I better not be seeing this when fall comes around.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying Coach Richt looks ugly now with his new do, but his hair has always been a reassuring trait of his, along with his faith, his being a father figure for his players, and his always standing by his morals with the strict rules and discipline he has put in place in his program.
I believe that men who can grow their hair, should, as a way to carry the torch for men who suffer from male pattern baldness, which is why I like to keep my locks long and luscious. So when I see a man not in the military buzz his hair, it saddens me a little, especially when the man is one who in the past always kept his hair nice and coiffed, such as CMR.
I know that Coach Richt isn’t as young as he once was. The man turned 55 this past February, but just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean you can’t still be handsome. Ask George Clooney or Emma Thompson. Those two are 54 and 56 years old, respectively, and both are still amongst the most attractive people in the world. Granted, they’re both actors, and as Emma Thompson has recently stated, appearance still plays too large of a role in the film industry, but why shouldn’t Mark Richt be the George Clooney of college football? Mark Richt has always looked younger than he is, and that shouldn’t stop now.

Am I overreacting? Of course I am. But if I don’t, who will? I know that hairstyles technically don’t win football games, but you know the saying: you look good, you play good. I feel that applies to coaches as well, so sue me for wanting my coach to mop the floor with his opponents while sporting a nice mop on his head.
Coach Richt will always be my Dawg, but have you ever seen one of those hairless dogs? Those are creepy. Mark Richt is no creep.
Hopefully by the time the season is in full swing we’ll be seeing Nick Chubb in the endzone, Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins, and Lorenzo Carter in opposing backfields, and Mark Richt’s hair flowing in the wind.
