Georgia football added a big Bulldog name to it’s 2016 wide receiver committment list. Charlie Woerner has promised to follow his uncle Scott Woerner to Athens Town.

A storied Georgia football surname is coming to the Bulldog roster. Charlie Woerner (6’4″, 220, WR, Tiger, GA, Rabun County High), nephew of legendary Bulldog All-American Scott Woerner, pledged his heart and his football skills to the Red and Black.
Woerners’s last visit to Athens for Dawg Night sealed the deal. “I’ve been thinking about it for about a week,” Woerner told Radi Nabulsi and Jake Reuse of ugasports.com. “Around Dawg Night, the days around it, I started getting the feel.”

The 6’4 220 pound wide receiver showed little interest in other schools, having visited only Georgia this summer. The Dawgs beat out the next two programs on Woerner’s list, Alabama and Oregon.
After watching Woerner during the Mark Richt 7 on 7 Camp, the Bulldog staff decided to offer Woerner as a wide receiver, his favored position.
However, there was more to the decision, Woerner telling Nabulsi and Reuse, “I really don’t mind which one. Now a days, they’re kind of the same. They always split the tight end out a lot. I don’t really have a preference.”

And then there was this from Kent Woerner, father the newest Bulldog commitment, speaking to Michael Carvell of the AJC.com, “[Charlie] liked all the things that Coach Richt talked about with the program, with the academics and helping the players after football.
The 14th player to commit for the 2016 class, Woerner is the third wide receiver along with Mays High School’s Randrecous Davis (5’10 189, Atlanta, Mays High) and Darion Anderson ( 6-1, 170 Warner Robbins, Houston County High) in the class.
Georgia is also heavily recruiting five-star wide receiver Kyle Davis (6’2’218, Lawrenceville, Archer High). Kyle Davis is the top wide receiver prospect in the country, according to 247sports.
Woerner is also the 11th home state commitment in the Bulldog 2016 class.
