Isaiah McKenzie allegedly made a death threat at Chili’s Bar and Grill in Athens.

At Chili’s.

No details were released regarding the role played by Chili’s.

The incident happened at 10:45 at night.

While most college students haven’t made their plans for the evening by 11:00 PM, there is no indication that the early hour was a factor.

Also, McKenzie appears to have been hanging out with a bunch of football players – defensive players at that.

Oh yes, yes, calm down, it’s serious. Besides, “serious” is covered in plenty of other places. (UPDATE: Not so serious after all.)

And it may not have been a serious threat anyway, at least it appears that way so far, as no arrest was made. But who’s to say, an extensive investigation may reveal felonious behavior on the part Chili’s. (UPDATE: No felonious behavior was revealed.)

Still, four other football players were mentioned in the police report. Egad.

I’m being a little facetious here in the face of political correctness, but to print the alarm, “Georgia football players cited in police report” when they were merely listed as witnesses, cooperating, as it were, with authorities, not, as with one famed Bulldog quarterback, running through the back parking lot of Allen’s, doesn’t really tell the story.

Then there is the headline promising “Latest Details and Reaction,” which were none and none. (UPDATE: There are still no details and no reaction.)

But that’s the internet, where one can even make light of a possible terroristic threat.

In any event, it’s about time, isn’t it? We haven’t had a football player exhibit poor public conduct in quite a while. About all Bulldog Country has had to hang it’s hat on is a driving on a suspended license arrest of basketball player J. J. Frazier.

Poor J. J. Any other year such an event would have barely registered as a footnote.

But it is, after all, our duty to report the news. Let the chips fall where they may. The public has a right to know.

After reading the Red and Black, Dawgnation.com, Bleacherreport, and onlineathens.com, and many other reputable (seriously) outlets, here’s the news. Isaiah McKenzie is being investigated for allegedly making a death threat. A number of football players were present and responded to police questions. No arrests were made. (UPDATE: Or will be made.)
