Georgia Football:Two Heartbreaks, One Season

The Georgia football team still controls its own destiny in the SEC East, which means the possibility of more heartbreak this season.

It is the tale of two “seasons” for Bulldog fans. The first quote un quote season ended when Georgia lost back-to-back games to Alabama and Tennessee, basically eliminating the team from playoff contention.

The second season started when Florida was outlasted by LSU in Week seven opening the door for the Dawgs in the SEC East race.

If Georgia can steal a win this Saturday against the Gators, they will be back in first place and just two SEC wins away from a trip to Atlanta for the conference championship game.

Much has been said of the agony Georgia fans have endured in recent years, but it is time to unearth something that many diehards from the first state chartered university never talk about.

The fans bring hardship onto themselves just as much as the team brings onto the fans. Here is a classic case.

Georgia’s two losses midway through the season have sunken Captain Mark Richt’s ship and prevented them from landing at Plymouth Rock (i.e. Glendale, Arizona). That could also be because it is impossible to get to Arizona by boat.

Now, with the recent happenings inside the conference, the Dawgs could make the SEC’s big dance by beating Florida, Kentucky, and Auburn and somehow wind up in a New Year’s Six bowl. Cue the violin and bring on the champagne.

STOP.

The heartbreak has already been too much!

Here is how the ol’ Legend of the 2015 Georgia Football Team reads: This fierce bunch of fighters was worn down after being defeated on multiple occasions. Many of their supporters had lost hope in them. With no where left to turn and nobody there to help, they took it upon themselves to get back up and fight some more.

As these underdogs took the field of battle, looking back at them were the faces of warriors or in other words Gators. These men were like giants compared to Georgia, and they showed no mercy. But, none of that mattered to these Bulldogs because they had something their mighty opponents did not. They had heart.

Against all odds, Georgia rose from the ashes and defeated the mighty warriors. Their supporters of old were now back on their side. All of the uncertainty that loomed before was turned into optimism. Cries rained from the Bulldog nation. “We can do this! We can make it to Atlanta!”

And then they lost to Auburn.

The urgent message here is to please not allow more dismay to enter your soul than has already entered. Be a smart individual and accept this season for what it is.

Winning out and making the SEC Championship is a strong possibility, but the same thing was said last year and the year before.

Heartache sucks. Going through it once in a season is enough. Remember that there is an old folk tale out there about the 2015 team that has already made its way into bookstores across the country. Nobody can mess with folk tales.
