About number one ranked Nathan Ponwith, Georgia Head Tennis Coach Manny Diaz told Georgiadogs.com, “Nathan is a fantastic addition to our squad. He brings outstanding results at the highest level. He is a great kid with an outstanding future who will fit in very well with our guys.”

With the number one ranked class in 2015 and the number two ranked class in 2014, Georgia Tennis just keeps on keeping on.

Georgia went to Scottsdale Arizona to pick up Ponwith, but stayed nearby to claim the signature of Robert Loeb of Hilton Head South Carolina and Alex Phillips of Peachtree City.

The Georgia tennis tradition continues pay to huge dividends. Said Phillips to Georgiadogs.com, “I chose UGA because it has the best coaches and team in the country. UGA has been my dream school for a while. I became very interested when I went to watch them play NCAA in Athens when I was 14 years old.”

Coach Diaz also used the home state advantage, telling Georgia dogs.com, “I’ve known [Phillips] since he was around eight years old, and he’s always been an outstanding young man and a very good player.”

For Loeb, the decision was about the personal connection, telling Georgiadogs.com, “I first got interested in UGA when my mom was telling me about it because she went there and my coach’s wife went there, and we are super close.”

Tradition, relationships, and personal connections are the three elements of successful recruiting. Georgia tennis, Manny Diaz and Associate Head Coach Bo Hodge are their master.
