According to Seth Emerson of DawgNation, Georgia running back Keith Marshall has decided to forego his final year of eligibility and take his talents to the next level after the conclusion of the 2015 season.

Marshall has been a favorite of the Bulldog nation since he stepped onto campus in Athens in 2012. The Raleigh, North Carolina product was a five-star recruit that upon signing with Georgia was touted to be the next great Bulldog back.

Known for his amazing speed, Marshall split time his freshman season with fellow true freshman Todd Gurley. The tandem combined for 2,144 yards and 29 touchdowns with Marshall accounting for 759 yards and 12 total touchdowns (11 rushing, 1 receiving).

Although Marshall came in as a higher-ranked recruit, Gurley was the premiere back for Georgia. Still, the coaches allowed Marshall to get his fair share of carries.

In his sophomore season, the Dawgs seemed to be starting off right where they left off the year before. Then in the fifth game of the season, Marshall was tackled awkwardly and tore his ACL in a game against Tennessee. That injury would tragically define the rest of his college career.

Last season when Todd Gurley was suspended for a violation of NCAA rules, Marshall looked to finally get his chance as the premiere Georgia back. Still recovering from his injury, freshman Nick Chubb exploded and took the reigns on the Georgia running game.

This year has been much of the season playing little time in nine of the team’s ten games. The evolution of Chubb and sophomore Sony Michel combined with Marshall’s injury has put the former five-star’s production at a minimum.

He seems to have never put the pieces together since his injury, lost a step and not been given enough opportunities to prove himself. Still, the Georgia-faithful should be thankful for the commitment he has made to this university and its football team. They also can remember and cherish the breakaway runs that Marshall had, and his determination to get back on the field following his injury.

To a DGD, all of the Bulldog supporters say good luck, and continue to prove the doubters wrong.
