The Georgia football team got back to its winning ways against Tech in Atlanta Saturday.

There was no overtime in the “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” rivalry this year. That would have just made the lackluster game drag on even longer.

For the fourth week in a row Georgia picked up a much needed victory. Stop the press! That is the most important part.

Also, for the fourth straight week the Dawgs looked unimpressive on offense and should have won by more than they actually did.

Georgia got off to a fast start driving down the field the first time they had the ball. Sony Michel raced 34 yards for a touchdown to put the team up 7-0 in the first quarter, and it seemed like maybe the offense had figured things out.

Then, of course, reality kicked in. Instead of waiting all game to score a touchdown to win, Georgia decided to get their one touchdown out of the way in the first minutes of the game. The rest of the game on offense was much like the last two months. A quick three-and-out or a solid drive down the field halted by a misthrow or bad blocking would be the result.

Once again the defense came to play. They stopped the Georgia Tech run game cold for almost the entire afternoon. The Yellow Jackets did not score until late in the fourth quarter. They also forced three turnovers, including an interception by Dominick Sanders at the goal line to stop a Tech drive.

Marshall Morgan played a huge factor in the game connecting on two field goals, which ended up being the difference in the 13-7 victory for the Dawgs.

Now many questions swirl around Athens as Georgia looks for a 10-win season ahead of their bowl game. With the defense playing so well the last month and a half of the season there is no doubt Georgia fans hope defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt will be back.

If this season has shown us anything it is that a defense can be resurrected by having the right coordinator, and a team can never be great without a solid quarterback. Although Lambert had one of his better games Saturday going 18/25 for 224 yards, he continued to show weakness in his arm and not be able to consistently make throws of over 10 yards.

Are the Bulldogs a year away from getting everything they need? Jacob Eason has been labeled the next great Georgia quarterback. Should the Bulldogs hold on to both Pruitt and Mark Richt for at least the next two years to figure out if Eason will be the difference between being an average team and a great one?

There is a lot to think about in Athens in the coming months. For this team, though, they will be focused on 10 wins. Posting a 9-3 record, regardless of how impressive the wins were, is nothing to laugh at. Georgia will be in prime position to get the invite to a solid bowl game, hopefully in sunny Florida.

Double-digit wins could go a long way in salvaging the coaching staff, especially with the recruiting class coming in next year. To say this has been the most ungrateful nine (maybe 10) win season of all-time would be wrong considering the way Georgia has looked on the field, but if the Dawgs notch a bowl victory Georgia fans will look back at this season with more positives than they do currently.
