21 – Bob McWhorter

Few Georgia Athletes have embodied the spirit of Athens, Georgia more than Bob McWhorter. Growing up not far from Athens, McWhorter would have the great distinction of becoming the FIRST of what would be a long line of stellar University of Georgia running backs scoring 61 touchdowns from 1910-1913.

The first ever All-American at the University of Georgia, McWhorter would continue his impact on the school and Athens area long after he took his last snap for the Dawgs. Mcwhorter would return to Athens to practice law before becoming a UGA law professor for more than thirty years. He even served four terms as mayor of the city of Athens from 1940 to 1947.
