Cedartown, Georgia has most recently gained widespread recognition for producing current UGA great Nick Chubb, but Nick was not the first great Georgia player to play between the hedges out to Cedartown. That distinction belongs to two time All-American offensive lineman Edgar Chandler.

Chandler followed his legendary high school coach Doc Ayers, a member of the Georgia Sports Hall Of Fame, to the University of Georgia to play under head coach Vince Dooley in 1964. While at the University of Georgia, Chandler helped guide his team to a 10-1 record record (including going undefeated against the SEC) before leading UGA to a Cotton Bowl Championship his senior season in 1967.

The Buffalo Bills drafted Chandler in the 4th round as a linebacker.
