17 – Terrance Edwards
Mr. Edwards excelled from 1999-2002 for the Dawgs. In his senior season, he led the SEC with 11 touchdown catches and helped Georgia win the conference title. He ranks third all-time in the SEC with 3093 career receiving yards, while his 204 receptions puts him at sixth all-time.
David Greene’s famous play-action, hidden ball, deep pass play was made famous by Edwards. Matthew Stafford and Aaron Murray later used this play. Edwards is the greatest receiver in UGA history statistics wise, and he excelled at the position even playing alongside standout receivers Fred Gibson, Reggie Brown, and Michael Johnson.
Edwards was one of the first “freak athletes” on offense in the Richt era. Quarterbacks always wish for guys they can just throw the ball up to on a whim and know it will be caught. When Edwards lined up out wide that is what Georgia had.
