GEORGIA FOOTBALL: TOP 30 PLAYERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY
14 – Ray Donaldson
A Damn Good Dawg who became one of only 32 two players to compete in 220 NFL games, Ray Donaldson began his UGA career as a linebacker before finding greater success as a center. Lettering at UGA from 1977 to 1979 the former East Rome High School product would earn ALL SEC team honors before being drafted in the 2nd round of the 1980 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
As a pro Donaldson was a six time pro-bowler and a member of the 1995 Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys. Playing at a time when racial stereo-typing kept black players from the center position, Donaldson is the first African-American to play center in the NFL. Now a member of the Georgia Sports Hall Of Fame, Donaldson remains one of UGA’s most iconic centers.
