11 – Scott Woerner
Woerner’s four-year career was capped off his senior year, which just happened to be the 1980 UGA football season. His interception against Notre Dame late in the game propelled the Dawgs to a national championship.
Totaling 13 interceptions as a defensive back in his career, he was also a standout punt and kick returner. He remains to this day as the UGA record-holder in three single seasons special teams records, as well as three career records including punt return and total kick return yards.
The speedy ball-hawk anchored a tough Georgia defense that came into its own in 1980. When Woerner was on the field, Georgia fans knew something could happen at any time. He will forever be mentioned among the greatest Bulldog defenders of all-time.
He was named an All-American in 1980 and was drafted in the third round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
