GEORGIA FOOTBALL: TOP 30 PLAYERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY
9 – Bill Stanfill
In Stanfill’s three seasons playing for the Bulldogs (1966-1968) he won an array of individual awards: Outland Trophy (nation’s top lineman), All-SEC (three times), All-American (1968). His team also won two SEC titles during that span and accumulated a 26-6-2 record.
His career at UGA was capped off by a Sugar Bowl appearance but nobody can forget the time he played quarterback in a 51-0 rout against Florida. His accolades continued being selected to the 50th Anniversary All-SEC team and becoming a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
He was selected 11th overall in the 1969 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, playing eight years with the team and winning two Super Bowls.
Stanfill also was named to the SEC Business Hall of Fame, a distinguished club that honors SEC student-athletes who excelled on the field and as business owners after their playing careers were over.
