8 – Champ Bailey

Much has been made of Bailey’s legendary pro career (and rightfully so), but Dawgs fans got a glimpse of his greatness in college. He was the do-it-all player for the team from 1996-1998 playing offense, defense, and special teams. With 47 receptions for 744 and five touchdowns, along with three interceptions in 11 games in 98’ he truly exemplified the meaning of a DGD.

That same season he was elected as an All-American, and he won the Nagurski Award (nation’s best defensive player).

Back in the time when college players still used their skills on both sides of the ball, Bailey made the most of his opportunities. With a name like Champ, it was almost inevitable for him to be a primetime player.

He was drafted seventh overall in the 1999 NFL Draft and the rest is history. In the end, he was another Richt-coached Dawg that developed into a Pro Bowler.
