5 – David Pollack

David Pollack’s first season playing defensive end was 2002. He was named All-American. Only the adoration for Herschel Walker surpasses the feeling of the Bulldog Nation for David Pollack.

A three-time All-America selection, Pollack won the 2004 Lombardi, Bednarik, Ronnie Lott Trophy, and the 2003 and 2004 Ted Hendricks Award. He was a finalist for the 2002 and 2004 Bronko Nagurski Award.

Pollack was the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2002 and 2004, player of the Year in ’02, consensus All-SEC in 2002-2004. His 14 sacks in 2002 set a Georgia single season record. He started 45 consecutive games and was the MVP of the 2005 Outback Bowl.

Pollack led Georgia to a four-year record of 42-10 – sixth best in the country, top six final rankings in 2002 – 2004 two SEC Eastern Division championships in 2002 and 2003 and the SEC title in ’02. Pollack’s teams also played in four bowl games.

If Pollack is not as beloved as he once was, blame his determination to present ESPN commentary void of bias.
